This new deal means that Beatport can now sell music from EMI’s catalogue of dance and electronic music and mixies such as releases from EMI’s Positiva, one of the longest running and most successful imprints in dance music, now in its 18th year, labels such as DFA and a whole host of artists such as The Chemical Brothers, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Kraftwerk and many more. The first release through the new partnership is the new Positiva-released single ‘Open Your Eyes’ from Alex Metric with Steve Angello (of Swedish House Mafia). The instrumental mix of the track is available now exclusively on Beatport ahead of the single’s full release in March. You can get it on Beatport here.

The song was recently Pete Tong’s Essential New Tunes on BBC Radio 1 in the UK. As the man himself says, the tune is so large it needs a festival named after it.

Lady Antebellum continue their stunning year with six nominations, including in the leading categories of Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Katy Perry has four nominations including Album of the Year for her number one album ‘Teenage Dream’ while Dierks Bentley has a hat trick of nominations in the Country categories.

Other EMI artists picking up Grammy nominations include Gorillaz, Goldfrapp, VaShawn Mitchell and Forever Jones who all have two nominations, plus The Beatles, Norah Jones, Keith Urban, Rosanne Cash, The Chemical Brothers, David Guetta, Little Big Town, Juan Luis Guerra, Alice In Chains, Patty Griffin, Chris Tomlin, TobyMac and Danger Mouse and many more – in all EMI artists have picked up a very impressive 47 nominations. Bryan won the Icon award, while The Chemical Brothers were awarded the Icon prize. Both attended the ceremony in person to pick up their awards.

‘Olympia’, the brand new album from Bryan Ferry is released this week by Virgin Records (Astralwerks in the US). The record is Bryan’s first new collection of original songs in nearly a decade and contains all the cool that you’d expect from a Bryan Ferry album. The Chem’s much-anticipated seventh studio album  was released this week  on Parlophone in the UK/rest of the world and comes out June 21st on Astralwerks in the US.  Also, US and Canada fans have the chance to experience a deluxe iTunes Pass – a four-week-long stream of music and video content, including, for the first time ever,  the amazing visuals fans that only usually get to experience at a live Chemical Brothers’ show.

• On June 15, fans will automatically receive a 20 minute “Making Of” feature that goes behind the scenes revealing how the groundbreaking visuals for this album were made.
• On the album’s official street date of June 22 fans will receive the iTunes LP  featuring the entire 8-track album in audio form including an additional exclusive audio track “Don’t Think” as well as the album’s 8 videos that can be viewed individually.
• This special iTunes LP format also includes an art image gallery as well as an extensive photo gallery of how the visuals were shot and created.
• Finally, on June 29, fans will receive yet another bonus – the exclusive track “Pourquoi.”

“Further” is the band’s first proper partnership with long-time visuals collaborators Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall. Now a respected TV and film director, Adam – aka Flat Nose George – has been responsible for creating the visual backdrop for every Chemical Brothers gig since their live debut in 1994. Visuals for Further have been created to correspond with each track on the album and have been planned during the recording of the record. 

 In addition to the digital album and iTunes pass, Further will also be available as a deluxe edition CD/DVD (including the 8 films plus a ‘making of’ video), a standard audio CD and as a double vinyl LP.
