Tinie Tempah and Gorillaz lead BT Digital Music Award nominations

Congratulations to Tinie Tempah and Gorillaz who lead the BT Digital Music Awards nominations with five apiece. Also nominated are Robbie Williams, Kylie, 30 Seconds To Mars, Deadmau5, Professor Green and Roll Deep.

Robbie Williams, Tinie, Roll Deep and Professor Green are nominated in four public vote categories – Best Male, Best Song, Best Newcomer, Best Video – so show your support by voting at DMA website. Voting closes on September 23 September and the awards take place at The Roundhouse in London on September 30.

Set on continuing his current UK chart domination, Tinie Tempah has just released the video for his brilliant third single, ‘Written In he Stars’ featuring Eric Turner, check it out below:

MTV VMA Noms for Katy Perry, 30 Seconds to Mars, Gorillaz, David Guetta and Coldplay

Congratulations to EMI Music artists nominated for MTV VMA Awards, announced today. Katy Perry, 30 Seconds to Mars, David Guetta, Gorillaz and Coldplay were among this year’s nominees.

The MTV VMAs will air live from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 12 in the US. MTV will performers, presenters and host as the big night approaches.

Gorillaz announce “Escape to Plastic Beach” tour starting in October

After a summer of festival shows, Gorillaz are bringing “Escape to Plastic Beach” out for a global tour, beginning in North America this fall. The 20-date run will include a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 8 October.

The U.S. and Canada dates (details to be announced shortly), will be followed by a series of 10 shows across Europe and the UK, including a two-night stand at London’s O2 arena, as well as seven shows across Australia and Asia.

Gorillaz co-creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s new live experience encompasses material from all three multi-platinum Gorillaz albums and will feature Albarn, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash, Bobby Womack, Little Dragon, Bootie Brown, UK Hip Hop stars Kano and Bashy and others as well as video animation, artwork, film and stage design by Hewlett.

Gorillaz #1, LCD Soundsystem #5 on NPR’s 2010’s Best Music (So Far) List

Gorillaz‘s “Plastic Beach” was named #1 and LCD Soundsystem’s “This is Happening” clocked in at #5 on NPR Music’s influential list, “the 2010’s Best Music (So Far).” Determined by a nationwide poll of its audience members, several other artists in the EMI family made the top 20, including Sweden’s The Knife for their experimental opera project “Tomorrow, in a Year” (Mute) at #18, and EMI Label Services-distributed Broken Social Scene (Arts & Crafts) come in at #19 with “Forgiveness Rock Record.”

In addition, Yeasayer’s “Odd Blood” (Mute UK) made the list at #12 and Jónsi’s “Go” nabs the #17 spot.

EMI Music at Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury, the UK’s largest music festival, begins today in Somerset with a host of EMI artists to check out if you’re heading that way.

Friday’s line-up kicks off the festival in style with Corinne Bailey Rae, Snoop Dogg and, what promises to be a dazzling headline performance from Gorillaz, all on the Pyramid Stage while the Other Stage hosts festival favourites Hot Chip.

On Saturday UK grime star Tinie Tempah will be in the East Dance tent immediately followed by Roll Deep. Mercury nominees Laura Marling and Jamie T perform on The Park and John Peel stages with Pet Shop Boys on the Other stage.

Sunday starts with the gorgeous Norah Jones at the Pyramid Stage and rising star Professor Green in the East Dance tent. LCD Soundsystem and Empire Of The Sun bring things to a close on Sunday evening on the Other and Park Stages.

Gorillaz ‘On Melancholy Hill’ video now in full on YouTube

The fantastic new video from Gorillaz for ‘On Melancholy Hill’ is now available in full on the official Gorillaz YouTube Channel.

The clip, which blends 2D and 3D animation, was directed by Jemie Hewlett. The single is released on July 26. It will be available as an iTunes single LP which includes ‘On Melancholy Hill’ video and animatic, Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach live show video featuring Snoop Dogg, ‘On Melancholy Hill’ remixes and the remix of ‘Stylo’ by Labrinth and Tinie Tempah.

Directed by Jamie Hewlett and a stunning blend of 2D and 3D animation, the video updates us on what Murdoc, 2D, Cyborg, Russel and the still alive Noodle are up to and is currently available exclusively at iTunes.
