David Guetta extends his long-term partnership with EMI Music

We’re thrilled to announce that David Guetta, the most successful electronic artist in the world right now, has renewed his recording contract with EMI Music. David’s first ever single, ‘Just A Little More Love’ was released by Virgin Music in France in 2001 and he has been part of the EMI family ever since.

David Guetta has sold more than eight million albums and 30 million singles worldwide to date as well as winning two Grammy Awards. His current album ‘Nothing But The Beat’ has sold more than 2.7 million copies to date as well as 14 million singles and has been certified platinum in 15 countries.

Says the man himself: “EMI is home to me. They believed in my music a decade ago when EDM was just an underground scene and took it to another level. I trust in family, energy and spirit.  I’ve had a wonderful group of music loving people surround and support me; they committed to me and I am very happy to extend my deal with the best team on the planet. Breakthrough Italian artist Raphael Gualazzi joins EMI’s Blue Note label in France

We’re very pleased to announce that breakthrough Italian artist Raphael Gualazzi has signed to the Blue Note division of EMI Music France. The deal was done together with top Italian independent label and publisher Sugar Music.

The multi-talanted Raphael burst onto the international stage last year after winning the Young Talent Section of the 2011 Festival of Sanremo which led to him becoming the first Italian artist for 13 years to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest last year. Performing the English language version of his song ‘Follia d’Amore’, ‘Madness of Love’, Raphael finished a remarkable second overall!

Raphael’s album ‘Reality and Fantasy’ was released on Sugar Music last year and has since been certified for platinum sales in Italy. EMI will reissue the album on the Blue Note label in September with six additional bonus tracks.

Van Morrison returns to Blue Note Records

We’re delighted to announce that the legendary Van Morrison is returning to Blue Note Records for a new studio album ‘Born To Sing: No Plan B’ which will be released on October 2. Morrison previously released the Grammy-nominated ‘What’s Wrong With This Picture’ on Blue Note in 2003.


Van says: “With most record companies being so corporate I am happy to be working with Don Was and the team at Blue Note. To have such a creative music person as the head of my recording label assures me that all the effort to write and record this new album will be rewarded with a music-based focus and marketing effort. I look forward to many recording projects with Don and Blue Note.”

And says Blue Note head Don Was: “Over a career that spans decades, Van Morrison has developed a body of work that is unparalleled in its consistent excellence. He is one of the greatest singer/songwriter/musicians of all time. We are incredibly honored that he has chosen to record for the Blue Note label and look forward to many fruitful years together.”

Blur announce live Twitter stream for two brand new tracks

For the first time, next week, July 2, at 6:15 UK time, Blur will debut new material live on Twitter when they perform two new songs via a worldwide live video stream.

Filmed and streamed completely from a secret UK location, the two new songs – which the band have never publicly performed – are ‘Under The Westway’ and ‘The Puritan’, written for the band’s upcoming sold-out Hyde Park concert.

Damon Albarn said: “I wrote these songs for Hyde Park and I’m really excited about getting out there and playing them for people.”

Go to @blurofficial at 6:15pm UK time next Monday, July 2, to hear the first track and an exclusive band interview, followed by the second track at 7:15pm UK time. Following the live stream both songs will be available to download and a limited edition double A-side 7 inch single will be released by Parlophone on August 6.

Blur’s much anticipated concert in London’s Hyde Park takes place on August 12, while on July 30 ‘Blur 21: The Box’ will be released to mark 21 years since the band’s debut album ‘Leisure’ in 1991. The set will include all seven Blur studio albums plus over five-and-a-half hours of previously unreleased material including 65 tracks, rarities, 3 DVDs, a collector’s edition book and special limited edition Seymour 7 inch vinyl. UK rapper Professor Green has been confirmed as the new brand ambassador for Relentless Energy Drink in a partnership that will run for the next 12 months.


The partnership will include gigs, competitions and social media activites with the first element being the first ever TV commercial for Relentless Energy Drink which will star Professor Green performing live on stage. Beach Boys have highest ever album debut

Amazing news for The Beach Boys this morning – 50 years after their debut was released by EMI’s Capitol Records the legendary band are back in the top 5 of the Billboard album chart in the US with their critically acclaimed new record ‘That’s Why God Made The Radio’ which has gone straight in at number three.


This is the first time the band have ever had an album debut in the top five in the US in their entire career. Congratulations!

Katy Perry releases new trailer for Wide Awake

Katy Perry has just released this fantastic trailer to her new single ‘Wide Awake’. The track is on her album ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection’ and was written for Katy’s upcoming 3D film ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ which opens in US theaters on July 5.

The full official music video for ‘Wide Awake’ premieres  in the US on June 19 at7:53pm EST on MTV.

Aaron Neville joins Blue Note Records

We’re very proud to announce that iconic soul/R&B vocalist Aaron Neville has joined EMI’s Blue Note Records to release a full-length album later this year. The record, a collection of classic material from the doo-wop era, has been produced by Keith Richards and Blue Note Records President Don Was.

Says Was: “Aaron Neville is one of the most expressive and soulful artists of all time…it’s such a thrill to hear him sing. His vocals have a way of reaching into your heart and stirring something really deep inside. It’s a huge honor to welcome him to Blue Note Records and to be involved, along with the legendary Keith Richards, in the production of this album.”

All of the tracks have been hand-picked by Neville himself as they are songs that have remained close to his heart since he was a child. “When I was a kid, doo-wop was like medicine to me,” he says. “I didn’t care what else was goin’ on in the world as long as I could sing along with Pookie Hudson and The Spaniels, The Flamingos, The Clovers, Sonny Til and The Orioles, Clyde McPhatter – I was like a kid in a candy store.”
