David Guetta says of the re-signing “EMI is home to me. They believed in my music a decade ago when EDM was just an underground scene and took it to another level. I trust in family, energy and spirit. I’ve had a wonderful group of music loving people surround and support me; they committed to me and I am very happy to extend my deal with the best team on the planet. It’s been an incredible journey and this is just the beginning!”
Paris, 2 July 2012 – David Guetta, the most successful electronic artist in the world right now, has renewed his recording contract with long-time record label EMI Music. The new agreement further extends an eleven year relationship between EMI and David Guetta, with the DJ’s first ever single “Just a Little More Love” having been released by Virgin Music in France back in 2001.
David Guetta has sold more than 8 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide in his career to date, with 5 studio albums, 30 singles and 8 “F***Me, I’m Famous” compilations. The two-time Grammy Award winning artist’s latest album, “Nothing But The Beat” – a twin sided electro & vocal album, has sold more than 2.7 million copies and 14 million singles worldwide and is certified platinum in 15 countries.
His music is a constant fixture on radio and in charts around the world and he has collaborated with some of the world’s biggest stars including Rihanna, will.i.am, Usher, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Sia, Madonna, Akon, Flo-Rida, Jessie J , Taio Cruz and the hottest emerging talents such as Avicii, Afrojack and Nicky Romero.
After producing the Black Eyed Peas’ massive hit “I Gotta Feeling”, Billboard described Guetta as the producer who had “dramatically altered the sound of top 40 radio” in the States. But David Guetta is first and foremost a DJ, who plays the most famous clubs and stages in the world more than 150 times per year, and manages to gather 2 million people on the world-famous Copacabana beach for the ultimate New Years Eve party.
With more than 33 million fans on Facebook, 5 million Twitter followers, and close to 1.5 billion views of his videos on the web, the French DJ’s digital connection and profile is indisputable. Guetta is currently working on a new version of the album featuring exclusive tracks and which will be available on 27 August, the first anniversary of the original release.
David Kassler, CEO of EMI Music Europe/Rest of World says “I am absolutely delighted that David Guetta is extending his incredible relationship with EMI – as the number one DJ in the world he is loved by tens of millions of music fans worldwide. Through his creativity and passion, David has helped change the face of dance, electronic and pop music, and he carries the respect and admiration of fellow artists, DJs, songwriters, producers and of course his label worldwide.”
Olivier Montfort, President, EMI Music France, comments: “At EMI Music, we have been proud to work alongside David since that very first single back in 2001, and we’ve come a long way together.
