Paris, Thursday 28th June 2012, EMI Music France announces a deal with Sugar Music for the signing of the multitalented Italian breakthrough artist Raphael Gualazzi.
Raphael Gualazzi, the multitalented Italian artist discovered by Caterina Caselli Sugar and launched by Sugar Music, won the Young Talent Section of the 2011 Festival of Sanremo with ‘Follia d’Amore’. At the Festival, he also won the Critics Award, Press and Media Award and the Assomusica Award for Best Performance. His success at the festival allowed him to be the first Italian representative for the past 13 years to take part at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dusseldorf (ESC 2011) with the English version of ‘Follia d’Amore’ called “Madness of Love”, reaching a remarkable 2nd place at the competition, and winning the Jury Awards with the same song.
Raphael’s latest album ‘Reality and Fantasy’ -written, produced and arranged by Gualazzi himself -, was first released in Spring 2011 on Sugar Music Label and has sold more than 100.000 copies to date, making it Platinum in Italy. This album is made of catchy modern melodies inspired by Jazz and Soul music. From October 2011 till May 2012 the ‘Reality and Fantasy European Tour’ saw Raphael performing in the most prestigious stages of Italy, with a number of sold out concerts, and over 100 gigs all around Europe, culminated in May 2012 with two concerts in Germany, where he performed with the WDR Big Band.
EMI Music will reissue on the Blue Note label Gualazzi’s first album ‘Reality and Fantasy”including 6 bonus tracks in September 2012.
