PARIS, 12 JANUARY 2012 — EMI Music France has acquired a significant shareholding in PlayOn, an all-rights music company founded in 2006 by Sébastien Duclos and Julien Godin. PlayOn covers all music genres and all segments of the music industry including production, publishing, management, and live events, as well as DVD rights, TV rights, and content production.
PlayOn has had several very successful local projects over the last five years, including its work with French singer Zaz, who has sold more than 1.5 million albums worldwide, and reached number 1 in five territories, as well as Colonel Reyel, Elisa Tovati, and the recently released Gerard Lenorman duets album.
Play On has also licensed the French rights to a number of successful international artists including Milow, Justin Nozuka, Edward Maya and Alexandra Stan. PlayOn has also been producing the “Cinderella” musical at the Théâtre Mogador in Paris since 2009.
Sébastien Duclos and Julien Godin stated: “With this partnership, PlayOn will be able to speed up its international development and more generally synergize its diverse activities with EMI Music, working in close cooperation with EMI Music Publishing.”
