London, April 6 2011 – EMI Music UK has appointed Miles Leonard to the newly-created position of President of Parlophone & Virgin A&R Labels, it was announced today.
Previously President of A&R Labels, Parlophone, Leonard will now lead both Virgin and Parlophone’s music discovery and development teams in the UK. He will continue to be based at the company’s London headquarters, and will report to EMI Music UK CEO Andria Vidler.
Leonard will additionally be tasked with broadening the Virgin and Parlophone’s relationships with their individual artists, and establishing consistent A&R principles across the two complementary but distinct labels.
Andria Vidler commented: “Miles is an outstanding A&R executive, and he’s been a key member of my senior management team throughout my time here. His knowledge and ability to build solid and trusted relationships within both the creative community and the company itself will be of real importance to us as we build on our success of the last year.

Miles Leonard began his career in the music industry at Virgin in 1991, before joining the Parlophone A&R team in 1995. He was appointed President of A&R Labels, Parlophone in 2008. During his time at the company to date, Miles has shown huge versatility across all genres, and played a key role in the careers of artists such as Gorillaz, Eliza Doolittle, Kylie Minogue, Tinie Tempah, Lily Allen and Coldplay.
