First release slated for June 2010 from Oklahoma rock artists Taddy Porter
New York, March 16, 2010 – Primary Wave, the music publishing, marketing and artist management firm, has entered into an agreement with EMI Music’s Label Services unit for North American distribution for Primary Wave’s label. The two companies will also release select artists via a joint venture.
The first Primary Wave release EMI Label Services will distribute will be the eponymous debut album from Stillwater Oklahoma rock band Taddy Porter, slated for June 2010. The band: Andy Brewer, Joe Selby, Kevin Jones and Doug Jones, were discovered by industry veterans Rick Smith & Scott Frazier, who now manage Taddy Porter on behalf of Primary Wave’s management arm. Led by the surging single “Shake Me,” and produced by Skidd Mills (ZZ Top, Saving Abel), the album promises a collection of timeless, undeniable rock songs. Taddy Porter will aggressively tour the US in support of the release, with planned dates including the 2010 Rock OnThe Range (5/22) & Rocklahoma (5/28-30) Festivals.
“Dominic Pandiscia and his team at EMI Label Services have very quickly proven that their experience, flexible approach and relationships are a great fit for a growing number of artists in nearly every career stage,” said Primary Wave Partner and CEO Larry Mestel. “I know this team first hand and we’re already off to a fast start with Taddy Porter. We’re looking forward to working with them on a solid slate of additional releases in the future.”
“Primary Wave is a great partner for EMI Label Services, because we’ve both developed a different approach to the business in response to the changing needs of artists and third party labels today,” said Dominic Pandiscia, General Manager and Senior Vice President for EMI Label Services. “The initial set-up on the Taddy Porter album has been very solid and we’re excited to be on board for this and the amazing slate of projects that Primary Wave has lined up.”
