Lily Allen leapt straight to number one in the Official Albums Chart with her second album It’s Not Me, It’s You, the Official Charts Company reveals today.
It’s Not Me, It’s You is Lily’s first number one album. In one week it has sold more copies than the three next best selling albums combined.
Her current single The Fear also debuted at number one and remains at the top spot of the Official Singles Chart for the third week running.
This gives 23-year-old Lily the first chart double of her career with both It’s Not Me, It’s You and The Fear simultaneously at number one.
A delighted Lily Allen said: “!ts great being at the top of both charts, especially in the same week as the Brit Awards are once again celebrating the best of British music”
As if this wasn’t enough, Lily’s new album looks set to crash into the upper reaches of the American charts when their new chart is unveiled later this week.
Lily first burst into the pop charts in 2006 when her debut single Smile went straight in at number one and won her a BMI songwriting award. Her multi-platinum debut album Alright Still peaked at number two in the same year in the UK and broke into the Billboard Top 20 in America. It went on to sell 2.6 million copies worldwide.
It’s Not Me, It’s You was written and recorded by Lily Allen and writer/producer Greg Kurstin.
