Coldplay, a seven-time GRAMMY® winner, launched its 2009 North American tour in May. The band will play two concerts in the Los Angeles area this weekend – Saturday, July 18th, at Home Depot Center in Carson, and Sunday, July 19th, at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine. The tour wraps up in Tampa on August 9th. Coldplay will kick off a series of European dates on August 16th in Herning, Denmark.
Released in June 2008, Viva La Vida charted at No. 1 in 36 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, and was the Top Selling Global Album of 2008 according to IFPI, the body that represents the recording industry worldwide.
NOTE: Coldplay’s sales milestone of more than 2 million full digital albums includes the download sales of four of the band’s complete studio albums, a live album and a full-length EP, and is not calculated on the track equivalent basis (TEA) that SoundScan uses to calculate its digital album chart.
