We’re very pleased to announce that breakthrough Italian artist Raphael Gualazzi has signed to the Blue Note division of EMI Music France. The deal was done together with top Italian independent label and publisher Sugar Music.
The multi-talanted Raphael burst onto the international stage last year after winning the Young Talent Section of the 2011 Festival of Sanremo which led to him becoming the first Italian artist for 13 years to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest last year. Performing the English language version of his song ‘Follia d’Amore’, ‘Madness of Love’, Raphael finished a remarkable second overall!
Raphael’s album ‘Reality and Fantasy’ was released on Sugar Music last year and has since been certified for platinum sales in Italy. EMI will reissue the album on the Blue Note label in September with six additional bonus tracks.
Pictured here is Raphael with the EMI and Sugar teams (Raphael himself is fourth from the right) and check out this great remix of ‘Madness of Love’ by Gilles Peterson.
