Huge congratulations to Tinie Tempah who today won a prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song for his huge breakout hit ‘Pass Out‘!
The Ivors honour excellence in British music writing and are widely accepted as the top awards in UK songwriting. Tinie won the prize along with his ‘Pass Out’ co-writers Timothy McKenzie and Marc Williams.
The honour comes hot on the heels of the news that Tinie’s debut American single release, ‘Written In The Stars’, is now a massive hit Stateside. It is currently at number nine in the main singles chart and has just been certified platinum for sales of over a million, making him the first UK rapper ever to achieve platinum sales in America for a debut single. Go Tinie!
Tinie’s debut album, ‘Disc-Overy’ was released in the US this week. And here’s a reminder of that brilliant single and current US top 10 hit ‘Written In The Stars’:
