Michael Franti brings his Sound of Sunshine to Europe

Michael Franti & Spearhead will follow the top 20 debut in the US at the end of last year for ‘The Sound of Sunshine’ with its release this month in the UK and Europe.

The US result was Michael’s highest ever Billboard Top 200 debut, and now across the pond the title track has been named single of the week on the UK’s BBC Radio 2 and added straight to their A-list.

Michael Franti & Spearhead will be headling a number of summer dates and festivals in the US including The Dave Matthews Band Caravan, The Hang Out Festival, Wakarusa Festival, Mountain Jam and others still to be announced, while in the UK they have been confirmed for the main stage at London’s Wireless Festival on July 2.

The following month Michael Franti & Spearhead will join music legend Carlos Santana and The Santana Band as special guests on Santana’s ‘Sound of Collective Consciousness Tour’ which kicks off in Seattle on August 25. Full details of all upcoming dates are available on Michael’s website here.

While in London a few weeks ago Michael spent a day bringing the sound of sunshine to the streets of the city, also performing a stunning version of his Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy hit ‘Television (The Drug of the Nation)’ which was the first time he had performed it in over 15 years. In an extra twist he mashed it up with Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ to create something truly unique. Check it out here:
