Congratulations to EMI artists Ozark Henry, Bart Peeters and Zornik who were among the big winners at Belgium’s Music Industry Awards (MIAs) last Friday, January 7.
Singer-songwriter Bart Peeters won Best Dutch-speaking Act for the second consecutive year while Ozark Henry, whose new album has just spent four weeks at number one, won the Best Pop award. Rock band Zornik won Best Video for the hard-hitting ‘The Enemy’. The video caused some controversy when released as it depicts a dystopian society where elderly people meet their end at a cliff edge. You can see it here:
Forer Junior Eurovision Song Contest runner up Laura Omloop, missed out in the Best Kidspop category for her current hit album ‘Verliefd’ [In Love].
The annual awards, which are organised by the Flemish public broadcaster Eén, is the biggest event in the local music industry.
