After 25 years and global sales of 70 million albums, Roxette are one of the biggest groups ever from Sweden and in February 2011 they will return with their first new studio album in a decade, ‘Charm School’.
The chances of Roxette recording a new album looked slim in autumn 2002 when Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Thankfully she defeated the illness and the seeds of ‘Charm School’ began to be sewn last year when she was reunited on stage with Per Gessle to perform Roxette’s massive global hits ‘It Must Have Been Love’ and ‘The Look’ during one of Per’s live gigs in Amsterdam.
The duo were soon making a full-scale comeback, performing to over 600,000 people in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands on their ‘Night of the Proms’ tour and began working on new recordings which became ‘Charm School’.
‘Charm School’ is released on February 11. Ahead of that here’s a reminder of their huge number one hit, ‘Listen To Your Heart’:
