Katy’s a record breaker

American radio just can’t get enough of Katy Perry. Billboard have confirmed that Katy’s monster hit single, ‘California Gurls’ featuring Snoop Dogg, has set a new record for the most number of plays in a week in the 17-year history of the Billboard Pop Song’s radio airplay chart!


Last week the song was played an average of 90 times by each pop station on Billboard’s panel, adding up to 11,816 plays across the US during the week – the highest score ever recorded.

‘California Gurls’ has spent the last three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the US. In the UK, the song debuted this week at number one.
