Rising stars including new hit artists Tinie Tempah (below), Professor Green and Roll Deep performed storming sets last week at EMI Music UK’s showcase in London for its new artists. Held at EMI’s historic Abbey Road Studios for an audience of competition winners and invited guests, the event highlighted the depth of talented artists currently breaking through on EMI.
Roll Deep were up first with a set including a rousing version of their recent UK number one ‘Good Times’. Eliza Doolittle followed with ukele and double bass on accompaniment for a performance including her brand new single ‘Pack Up’. Eliza’s self-titled debut album is out next week.
Philadelphia electro/hip-hop duo Chiddy Bang played their recent hit single ‘Opposite Of Adults’ and entertained with an impromptu rap on subject matters suggested by the crowd. New single ‘Truth’ is out now. Also from the US and next up was singer-songwriter Diane Birch with songs from her current album ‘Bible Belt’ which is out now. Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Nozuka followed. His new album,‘You I Wind Land And Sea’ is released next month.
Professor Green (below) was next on stage and performed his top three UK hit ‘I Need You Tonight’ and new single, ‘Just Be Good To Green’, which is out on Monday July 12. Green’s new album, ‘Alive Till I’m Dead’, is confirmed for release the following week.
For the finale Tinie Tempah was joined by his full band for a set that included recent number two hit ‘Frisky’ (video below), new track ‘Written In The Stars’, and his breakout smash ‘Pass Out’ which is now the top selling British song of the year in the UK. All three will be on Tinie’s upcoming album ‘Disc-Covery’.
All in all a series of stunning performances from these new and very exciting EMI artists who created a fantastic atmosphere in the always amazing space of Abbey Road Studios.
