Chiddy Bang ‘The Preview’ and new single ‘The Good Life’ out October 11

Having built an already strong fan-based with their MySpace mixtape ‘Swelly Express’, Chiddy Bang will release an eight track album, ‘The Preview’, on October 11 (October 12 US) before the release of their debut album ‘Swelly Life’ in early 2011

The group’s debut single, ‘Opposite Of Adults’,catapulted them to fame in both the US and UK  with  its innovative cross-genre sound rooted in hip hop. The MGMT- sampling song became an internet sensation with over 6 million hits on You Tube and soon invitations to support Jay-Z, Snoop Doog and Kid Cudi on tour followed.

‘The Preview’ touches on the group’s experiences over the last year and with collaborations including Pharrell who co-produced new single ‘Good Life’ and Q-Tip on ‘Here We Go it’s safe to say it’s been a pretty good year for these guys.

John Lennon: Gimme Some Truth details announced

Today, EMI Music unveiled the complete tracklists and cover art for a broad selection of remastered John Lennon albums and new collections to be released on CD and digitally on 4 October (5 October in North America). Announced last month, EMI Music’s global John Lennon ‘Gimme Some Truth’ catalogue campaign is being overseen by Yoko Ono and commemorates the music legend’s 70th birthday on 9 October, 2010. Featured in the sweeping initiative are eight remastered John Lennon solo albums and new titles including Double Fantasy Stripped Down, Power To The People: The Hits, Gimme Some Truth, and the John Lennon Signature Box.

Capitol Nashville roster lands multiple CMA nods, Lady A leads with 5 total including “Entertainer of the Year” and “Album of the Year”

Capitol Nashville’s roster had a strong showing in the Country Music Award nominations, announced today, with many of them up against their label mates in several top categories. Lady Antebellum continues their amazing year with five nominations, including for “Entertainer of the Year” and “Album of the Year.”

Dierks Bentley was tapped for three awards, including “Male Vocalist of the Year,” “Album of the Year” and “Musical Event of the Year.”

Label mate Keith Urban will go head to head with Lady A in the “Entertainer” category, and is also up for the “Male Vocalist” award against Bentley.

Little Big Town is also up for “Vocal Group of the Year” against Lady A.

Luke Bryan has been nominated for “New Artist of the Year.”

Deadmau5 announces UK winter tour

Electro-maestro deadmau5 has announced details of his biggest UK tour to date. Orders for tickets received before September 16 will include an exclusive deadmau5 download of the track ‘A City In Florida’.

The tour kicks off on December 8 in Bournemouth, followed by dates in Leeds, Manchester, Coventry, Glasgow and London. An impressive line-up of electronic artists has been assembled to join deadmau5 on the tour, including: Zane Lowe, Magnetic Man, Calvin Harris, (DJ Set),  Stanton Warriors and Kim Fai. Ultimate Ears, the number one choice of the world’s top touring musicians, has teamed up with EMI Music’s Capitol Studios, the legendary recording facility in Hollywood’s landmark Capitol Tower, to design the first custom in-ear reference monitors for use by professional producers and audio engineers — the Ultimate Ears(TM) In-Ear Reference Monitors.

This is also the first time that the Capitol Studios brand has been licensed for use by a product (via EMI Music’s brand partnership team).  In addition, the world-renowned Capitol Studios ‘ recording engineers collaborated with Logitech Ultimate Ears on the product’s design.

The album not only looks great, “Teenage Dream,” released in the US last week and in the rest of the world this week, sounds amazing and is dazzling fans and critics alike.  The New York Post declared Teenage Dream “a total success” that “may have the juice to topple Michael Jackson’s Bad as the U.S. record holder for most singles released from one album.”

A gorgeous Katy Perry mosaic of fans in hashtag art project

Katy Perry really shares the love with her fans!  First, she made sure her fans camping for her NBC “Today Show” appearance out had some comfy pillows and blankets.  Next, she and the “Today Show” got the twitterverse involved in a hashtag art project about Katy’s concert, which was broadcast live from Rockefeller Plaza in New York City this morning.  Some fans who included the hashtag, #katyontoday in tweets this week wound up in this gorgeous mosaic.  Can you find yourself?

Lady A to play NYC’s Central Park live, continues impressive chart moves

Lady Antebellum continued making waves on the Nielsen Soundscan charts this week, with sales for both of their albums – their self-titled debut and “Need You Now” – on the rise, as well as the release of their new EP “iTunes Session.”  The EP is an iTunes exclusive that features the band doing a glorious live acoustic set of their material, as well as a cover of Tom Petty’s “Learning to Fly.”

“Need You Now” re-entered the top ten at #6, “iTunes Sessions” bowed at #17 and “Lady Antebellum” rose to #74.  And the picture on the Country Album Chart was even more rosy, with all three titles in the top ten (#2, #3 and #10).

US fans can catch them live from New York’s Central Park on ABC’s “Good Morning America” tomorrow morning!
