Ben Harper Launches on Hulu in the US, BH&R7 Launch “Live from Montreal” CD/DVD

In celebration of today’s CD/DVD release of Ben Harper and Relentless7 “Live from the Montreal International Jazz Festival”, Hulu (available in the US) has launched the Ben Harper and Relentless7 channel featuring a limited screening of the entire Montreal DVD and a collection of dozens of music videos and live performances. “Live from Montreal” is available now with two bonus instant downloads at the Ben Harper Shop, a bonus track at iTunes and available at fine retailers everywhere.

Gorillaz’ Plastic Beach is out!
The physical “Experience Edition” of Plastic Beach includes such bonuses as a Making of Plastic Beach DVD, ability to stream live Gorillaz performances, and a special access card unlocking a world of exclusive and interactive online content to be revealed over time.
In the US, the iTunes LP version of Plastic Beach includes the record-breaking “Stylo” video and a Making of “Stylo” documentary; a video collection of Gorillaz animation, Plastic Beach trailers and six exclusive films set to album tracks; a still gallery featuring original Gorillaz art and images exclusive to iTunes; a Gorillaz interactive game; and an Online Extras section providing access to Gorillaz live concert performances and additional exclusives. The iTunes deluxe edition of the record also features the bonus tracks “Pirate’s Progress: and “Three Hearts, Seven Seas, Twelve Moons.”
Plastic Beach’s first single, “Stylo,” premiered last week on YouTube in many parts of the world and instantly became the most successful official music video premiere in YouTube Music Tuesday history, generating over 900,000 views in its first 24 hours, since breezing past the million view mark and surpassing previous record holders U2 and Weezer.
Elsewhere, the NPR Music Exclusive First Listen for Plastic Beach was the #1 most popular story on NPR.org in its first 24 hours.

Huge congratulations to EMI Music/Parlophone’s UK rapper Tinie Tempah whose massive single ‘Pass Out’ debuted at number 1 in the UK this week.

Or so says Interview magazine in this story just out. The mag asks what makes this 17 year old singer/songwriter Sky Ferreira such a special case?
“Everything, basically. She’s a rough-around-the-edges beauty with a sterling voice, impeccably weird taste, and an almost maniacal inability to take no for an answer.”

Last night at the Academy Awards, the French team of François Alaux and Herve de Crecy took home an Oscar for Best Animated short film. Logorama features a world full of brand logos and corporate mascots. See anything familiar in this trailer by the Santa Monica Pier?
Alaux and de Crecy (also known as production team, H5) have also done work on videos from artists like Massive Attack, Goldfrapp and Röyksopp. Congrats to them!

Rising star Capitol Nashville star Luke Bryan has been nominated for the prestigious Academy of Country Music Awards‘ Top New Solo Vocalist Award. But before you cast your vote at www.voteacm.com, you might want to think twice and watch the video below, featuring a parade of famous country music stars, a guy in a leotard making like Beyonce, and even a St. Louis Cardinals fan or two.

EMI artists scoop 3 awards at Germany’s ECHOs

Congratulations to all of EMI Music’s winners at Germany’s top music industry awards which took place in Berlin last night (March 4).
Robbie Williams won Best international male, Depeche Mode took home Best international group and Best music DVD production went to Helene Fischer.
Robbie, who collected his award from German football legend Oliver Khan (above), performed a stunning version of his current single ‘Morning Sun’ to the live show audience of 4,000 and to the millions watching the show on television. Depeche Mode were also there to pick up their award in person.

EMI to release anniversary Warped Tour DVD/CD

Vans Warped Tour is North America’s longest-running touring festival and on March 30 EMI Label Services will release, in the US and Canada, a special 15th anniversary Vans Warped Tour DVD and bonus CD including performances from All American Rejects, The Aggrolites, Bad Religion, blink 182, Ice-T, NOFX, Ozomatli, Pennywise, Pete Wentz and The Decaydence All Stars, Rise Against and Underoath.
The DVD/CD was recorded at the Vans Warped Tour birthday bash held last year at LA Live. “This DVD captures the 15 years of the tour in the best way possible, by acknowledging the history, diversity and the future of the tour,” explains tour founder Kevin Lyman.

LCD Soundsystem has confirmed May 17th (UK) and May 18 (U.S) as release dates of its as yet untitled third album. The record will be released on DFA/Virgin in the U.S. and will consist of the following songs:

The above were recorded at The Manshun in Los Angeles and the DFA studios in New York and mixed at DFA from April 2009 through February 2010. TBD was written and produced by James Murphy. Additional mixes were done by Dave Sardy as indicated (*).
The new album is LCD Soundsystem’s first full offering of new studio material since 2007’s Sound Of Silver, which was named best album of the last decade by NPR, ranked #1 in the 2007 Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll, landed at #12 and #17 respectively in Rolling Stone and Pitchfork’s best albums of the decade, and like its predecessor 2005’s LCD Soundsystem received a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album. Sound Of Silver also featured “All My Friends,” ranked #4 by Time in its Best Songs of 2007 and named single of the year by Pitchfork, and Entertainment Weekly #8 song of 2007 “Someone Great.” In 2008, LCD Soundsystem contributed the track “Big Ideas” to the soundtrack of the movie 21. The band has since released the 45:33: The Remixes EP and a cover of Alan Vega’s “Bye Bye Bayou,” issued to commemorate Record Store Day 2009 and earning LCD its fifth NME single of the week. The album will be preceded by the March 23 release of the soundtrack to Noah Baumbach’s Greenberg, which features both composition’s from James Murphy’s original score for the film and the new LCD Soundsystem song “Oh You (Christmas Blues).”
The record’s release will be supported by a world tour beginning with an April 16 penultimate slot at the Coachella festival in Indio CA and continuing with a run of UK/Europe headline dates (several of which have sold out well in advance and necessitated added dates) and further worldwide festival appearances.
